Why Individual or Personal Counseling?

Individuals seek counseling for a variety of reasons. Some of the issues that prompt people to seek counseling include:

  • stress or anxiety
  • depression
  • career problems
  • eating disorders
  • substance abuse in the family
  • financial stress
  • grief or loss issues
  • intimacy, commitment, or relationship issues
  • identity concerns
  • thoughts and feelings about suicide or self-harm
  • anger or thoughts of violence

People tend to struggle with these kinds of issues internally, endlessly self-analyzing with no solution - or resolution - presenting itself. Then they may turn to others they trust for advice.

But talking things over with family members and friends may not be enough.

What can I expect from Pam in Personal Counseling?

What you get out of counseling depends on your unique needs and ability to create change. For this reason, each counseling experience is different, just as every individual is different.

We may start by clarifying the problem and examining what solutions have already been tried. This will help us discover which counseling strategies will be most helpful to you.

Once you clarify what is going on and what needs to happen, I will help you develop and refine a plan to help you achieve that goal.

If you would like to schedule a consultation, my office is located at 125 4th Street NW in Mason City, Iowa.
